Chapter 2-So What Steps Do You Need To Take Now To Avoid Poor Future Academic Performance
Part 1: I told Her But She Didn't Listen
.
I told you about my friend Mabel, who I called to check how her five-year-old daughter was doing. Remember I told you that she was crying on the phone about how badly her daughter was doing at school? Let's rewind a few years earlier, when her daughter was still a toddler. I went to visit her one day. I noticed that her daughter, then around three, was playing and wasn't getting any education from her mom.

I explained that it was important that she start teaching her child while she was still young. She responded that it would be ok as the school would teach her child when she got there. I warned her not to rely on the school or wait until her daughter reached school age before teaching her. She didn't listen to the advice. So, back to when I spoke to her a few years later. When she was in tears about how bad her daughter was doing at school, at the back of my mind, I thought, I told you to teach your child when she was still a toddler.

You see, what I was trying to tell Mabel when her child was still a toddler was that she needed to sharpen and smarten her daughter's mind. And she needed to do it while she was still a toddler. If she had done it, her daughter would have developed strong mental academic abilities. She would have started school with a strong academic advantage. And there is no way that she would have fallen behind when she got to school. Quite the opposite, she would have excelled.

Please be aware that what children learn in nursery, daycare, or childcare is not enough to develop those abilities. I am talking about something much different. I will address this later.
It is a similar story with Nish and Martha. Neither of them had taken time to sharpen their child's brains when they were babies or toddlers. They believed more in play than in sharpening their child’s mental abilities.
Play is important, of course. But if they had taken some time to sharpen their child's brains when they were babies or toddlers, they would have avoided the issues they later faced.
Now, we will look at the results you can expect if you listen to my advice.
